I define success as the meaningful relationships and friendships I've built and maintained through the years in a professional and personal capacity.
My mother is my greatest inspiration. She passed away recently, and I find myself more inspired by her incredible perseverance, joy for life, and compassion that put others above herself. She was a successful manager in her industry, overcame a difficult childhood, and was an absolutely incredible mom, person and professional. I feel I get my drive, strength and compassion from her. She taught me to be positive and believe in myself, and I'll carry on her legacy and what she taught me for years to come.
The best piece of advice I've ever been given was by my dad. He always says "Life is too short and you're not guaranteed a tomorrow, so say what needs to be said and do what makes you happy." I feel that has had the biggest impact on my life because I appreciate everyday and don't take for granted that I am healthy, have a supportive family and stable job, especially with what has been going on in the world the past year.
I want to be known as someone who took the time to learn and get to know other people. I want to be known as someone who not only gave their all in their career, but as a wife and mother in the future who gave their family a great life and was passionate about what I did for a living. I enjoy learning about others as a journalist, and being able to hear women's journeys as they reach their goals and grow their business is a privilege to hear.
I feel the most empowered when I speak up for myself and what I need and want. In my personal life and my professional one, it has been a struggle at times to effectively communicate my needs, but when I have, I have felt great because I know my worth and won't settle for things that aren't meeting my standards.
