The Collective Rising emerged from the flames ignited by This Girl Can Run The World.
This Girl Can Run The World, which began as an opt-in editorial platform designed to celebrate women throughout their career journeys, took off instantaneously after its soft-launch in October of 2018.
9 weeks, and 6500+ submissions later, This Girl Can Run The World’s founder, Kitty Schur, realized there was a demand for something far bigger than the company’s current offerings.
This Girl Can Run The World quickly captured the attention of an ambitious, dedicated and loyal fanbase of career-oriented women. These women were influential, but not stereotypical “influencers” in the digital realm, rather they were leaders, business women, entrepreneurs and creatives.
Make no mistake – this was not a homogenous group. These women worked across a myriad of industries, came from diverse backgrounds, lived around the globe
and ranged in age from their early twenties throughout their late fifties.
Despite the audience’s diversity, it became clear that these women were seeking the same things.
They wanted to feel seen, be heard and share their accomplishments and achievements online, with ease and without the fear of judgment, not for the sake of self-promotion, but rather to open themselves up to opportunities for discovery, recognition and professional advancement.
Realizing that true empowerment only occurs when opportunity, visibility and choice intersect, Kitty Schur went on to develop what is now The Collective Rising.
