About The Company
My name is B. Marie, and I am the founder of Brown Aspiration. I’m a considerable journaler, I have a notebook collection you would not believe. But I noticed that stationery lines in the stores did not depict the diversity we see around the world. According to the 2018 Nielsen Report: “While African Americans make up just 14% of the population, they are responsible for some $1.2 trillion in purchases annually. Further, consumers of color are showing an outsized influence in several key consumer categories, and are increasingly demanding that businesses do and be better.”
As one of the consumers who wanted retailers to do a better job of having representation that more resembled my community; I set out in late 2016 to resolve that problem. I created a stationery and office line that focuses on providing positive images of everyday African Americans. The Brown Aspiration store launched officially in February 2018 with our signature #Dopebooks line, in April of 2018 we added our #GlamPens.
We are working hard to establish our brand so that whatever your race or nationality; when you think of stationery, your first thought is Brown Aspiration. We have SO MUCH more on the horizon in the coming months and years. For Brown Aspiration, this is just the beginning!
