This year our goal was to gain our LLC and a way to build our community and membership platform. We officially registered as an LLC in May and are lauching our Patreon membership this month.
I took a risk when I decided to host a screening and panel for our film. We were already not breaking even from the initial filming and hosting the screening would put us at risk of making an even larger loss. When you start your own company and are self funding. Those ticket sales mean the differnce between a lot more than just breaking even. I was so hapy we brooke even for the screenign but it was definitly one of the biggest risks I made.
I feel most empowered when I share stories. Whether it be from acting, producing a play, film so on or sharing another womxn's business with a friend and seeing the collaboration and growth that we can together achieve.
In December 2019 we screened and hosted a panel for our film, A Series on Surviving. The film and panel explored the ongoing trauma of sexual assault survivors. We donated the profits to the organisation, RAINN which runs the national helpline for survivors. I have never been so proud as I was when that film started playing and then at the end of the event when we had completed the panel. I was full of love and support and pride. I had done something that mattered.
Let's Go Grandad. I used to say it all the time to my grandfather and the motto of "Let's go" has stayed with me. I say it in my head when I am about to do something exciting and nerve wracking.
I am an actor and the Srtistic Director and Owner of Elemental Women Productions LLC. I grew up in the North East of Scotland and moved to NYC in 2012 to pursue my career in acting. I have worked in theatre, film, voiceover and TV. In 2018 I decided that I wanted to produce also and get more womxn’s stories out into the world. So we founded EWP and have gone on to grow and produce multiple projects.
