What are your three best habits?

1. Reading screenplays 2. Journaling 3. Meditating

What inspires you?

I find inspiration for my writing from people watching, reading books, listening to podcasts, talking to friends and more. However, there is no greater feeling than being able to actually be the inspiration for someone and that's what I enjoy about working with students. Another idea that inspires me is just knowing that I won't live forever. I know it can be fearful to have this on your mind but for me, it’s my inspiration to experience life to the fullest because anything can happen.

What is the worst piece of advice you have received?

I think everyone likes to explain why their reasoning or side is the best. I don't usually consider advice from people who tell you that "this is the only way to do things". All those situations where there are only two options, like the “classic” rail car scenario where you must pick between killing one person or a group. Maybe neither solution is correct, since your choice is really only limited by your imagination. Why not just bend the rail or yell?

What is a recent accomplishment you are proud of?

Every time I can overcome my fears and get out of my comfort zone is a big moment for me. In terms of day-to-day, I often have proud moments at the simplest times: when I’m writing, when I finish a script, or when I’m able to break through a week-long writer’s block. However, a recent accomplishment that I'm proud of is the launch of my newsletter called, "Screenwriting &" about screenwriting and everything in between. It also focuses on highlighting underrepresented writers/filmmakers, in particular amplifying the voices of MENA/SWANA creatives.

What keeps you awake at night?

This is a good one! I spend a lot of time ruminating on whether I am making the right decisions in life, other times I ponder on the purpose of the universe, human's ability to adapt, and more. Some nights can get extremely personal if my mind wants to vent everything out. But I believe that these are the nights that are meaningful. They are not wasted nights. Those are the nights that give you reassurance to keep moving on
