Tell us about a time you took a risk at work.

Deciding to write Body Positive: A Guide to Loving Your Body was the biggest risk I've taken. Why? Because I'm not a medical professional or even a counselor. I'm just an average girl who wanted to write the book I needed when I was a young woman growing up. It was scary to tell people that I was going to take this on because a lot of people didn't believe that I could do it. Thankfully, I didn't listen to those people and I did it anyway. It's exciting to see that hard work and taking that risk is paying off. My book is being published this January 5, 2021!

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about impacting people's lives in a positive way. If I can make just one person feel understood and feel better about themselves then I've done my job. Having a purposeful career is what my dreams are made of!

What is the most exciting part of your job?

Right now, I am not a full-time writer. I have my hand in a lot of pots! I am a photographer, writer, and marketing manager. I love that I get to balance my love for creativity with more analytical and administrative tasks. Sometimes I wish I could just focus on one thing, but that's not how I work. Even if I could, I would probably end up doing multiple things anyway!

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

I am extremely shy and introverted. I think I do a pretty good job of hiding it, but it really is exhausting for me to put myself out there and come off as extroverted! Growing up I discovered that it was easier to blend in, then be a shy person. You actually receive more attention when you are shy!

What would you love to accomplish or do more of?

I would love to spend more time researching and writing on the topics that I am most passionate about. There is nothing more challenging and fulfilling than producing words that touch other people, that make them feel like they are not alone in their thoughts.
