I define success mostly through fulfillment. When I feel that my mind is at peace. When I achieve milestones I've set for myself. When I feel confident, and comfortable-- mind, body and soul. Never, ever through money. Worst lesson thought to us by the older generations.
Live in the moment more. I would stop fixating so much on building a "successful" or "better" future for myself and enjoy my teens and twenties more. I wouldn't take life so seriously. Learn to let loose and have a little fun. Turns out, there is so much more to life than getting good grades and graduating college. Adulthood is such a disappointment. Who knew.
"Someone once told me not to bite off more than I can chew. I told them I'd rather choke on greatness than nibble on mediocrity." As a Turkish-American immigrant who moved to the states at a young age with parents who were facing major financial struggles and didn't speak English, I could have easily fallen into mundane, routine life for the sake of stability. Instead, I've always aimed high- no matter how much of my sanity it cost me. Or how much money. I'm known for being a ballsy go-getter, so this quote speaks to me on many levels.
I stood up for myself for the first time by talking back to my boss over an unfair, petty argument in early 2019. I didn't just talk back...I gave my resignation letter the next morning to resign from the role that was allowing me to pay my mortgage, and officially began working on my self-funded company the day after quitting, without a partner, and without investors.
I wake up bursting with new business ideas on a daily basis. There are so many other business ventures I want to go on and experience. I hope to build many new diverse businesses from the ground up, where I can apply my creativity and marketing skills and undying passion. It gives me joy- which is fulfilling. That's what it's all about.
I am a creative, passionate soul with a big entrepreneurial spirit. I am a realist with high standards and a mind full of endless business ideas. At the age of 11, I immigrated to the states with my parents—who at the time, did not speak English. Despite facing over a decade of immigration issues and financial woes, I was determined to create my own path at a very young age. After studying Fashion Merchandising Management, Cosmetics & Fragrance Marketing and Psychology at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, I grit my teeth and dove into the corporate world to gain experience, network, and of course, to make money.
Close to a decade in, I decided it was time to part ways and use my passion, drive, enthusiasm and expertise on fulfilling my own dream, rather than stressing day and night over someone else’s. And so began my journey in launching Lordess in early 2019.
Due to the pandemic– things are going less than ideal. I have decided it is time to go back to corporate while I manage Lordess on the side and outsource where necessary.
