Tell us about a time you took a risk at work.

When I found out about the virtual assistance industry, I knew right away that I wanted to quit my 9 to 5 job and become an entrepreneur. It was the first time in my life that I'd ever felt completely certain about a career choice. I went to my 9 to 5 job and put in my notice. Three months later, I became a full-time entrepreneur and I haven't looked back since. This was the biggest risk that I'd ever taken in my work and I don't regret it!

What has been one of the largest professional obstacles you have had to overcome?

During my first year of business, in the winter time, I experienced a lot of regularly-occurring anxiety. At the time, I'd only been able to afford 1 subcontractor to support my operations. I was running my business from home, raising 2 and 5 year old, trying to be there for my family members, and being a homemaker. I believe all of these responsibilities without any type of self-care incorporated into my daily routine had led me to a period of anxiety-ridden days. Operating my business under these conditions was not easy and I knew that if I wanted to continue providing my clients with high quality service, then I had to start taking care of myself. After this, I began taking self-care more seriously.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

I lowkey have always wanted to be a DJ. I've always enjoyed the Hip Hop culture as I used to b-girl/breakdance when I was in middle school - high school. DJing is an art of the culture that I've always truly enjoyed watching. I would love to change the vibe of a room (in a good way) based on the music that I'm playing.

What inspires you?

It inspires me to see other women being fearless and confident about themselves, their goals and passions. I truly love being around other women who are go-getters, especially if they're also mothers because I am a mother myself. It truly lets me know that I can accomplish anything as well.

What is your favorite quote and why?

"The only thing I fear is fear itself." - Pep Love, Hieroglyphics Fear has been a big part of my life, whether it was fear of another person, fear of failure, fear of consequences, fear of the what-if's happening, etc. Fear can truly hinder a person, and I'm truly glad I did not let the fear of failure dictate my decision to become an entrepreneur because it was the best decision I'd ever made in my life.
