Firstly, I talk way too much and often say whatever is on my mind. I may seem like a quiet, innocent person, but once you ask for my opinion and get me going, you’ll only experience 100% honestly. Also, I am spontaneously organized; I love planning out everything, but I am also incredibly impulsive and never stick to the plan. Lastly, I am so incredibly in tune with my emotions; whatever emotion I am feeling resonates through my entire body, and I don’t try to hide it. These are three traits I am still learning to accept and love about myself, and being proud of them is one step further on that self-acceptance journey.
“NEVER STOP CREATING.” It has to be in all caps. This is something that goes beyond creating content for my blog and other passionate endeavors. If there’s a life I see myself having, I have to work hard to create for myself, so when I’m feeling defeated and want to spend the day bawling my eyes out in bed, I have to remember that I have to keep creating.
Being a black woman in America empowers me. It’s so easy to get caught up in the commotion and hatred and fear. However, black women possess a special kind of fight and power and influence and love. Loving and embracing my skin, my heritage, empowers me every single day. The world may try to knock me down, but I come back fighting harder.
Developing ideas is definitely the most exciting part of my job. It’s one thing to come up with ideas, but developing them into something tangible fills me with an incredible amount of joy and contentment.
