What advice would you like to share with the next generation?

Put your hand up. Step forward. Take a chance. Try new things. Don't be paralyzed by what you 'think' others opinions are of you Be kind to yourself and others.

What do you want your legacy to be?

I want my legacy to be in people's hearts and minds. That they say, "Jill's words inspired me," "Her words challenged me," "Jill's words helped me to become a better person," "She was kind and helped others and was true to her word"

What is your favorite phrase or saying?

If it's to be, it's up to me!

What is a recent accomplishment you are proud of?

In the middle of a world-wide pandemic I created a free, non-profit, volunteer run contest called Head Start with Jill. I had been giving keynotes at universities and these young people were feeling despondent, discouraged and without hope even before covid hit. Then in February 2020 when covid was spreading, I knew that these young people needed hope, help, purpose and opportunity more than ever, so I came up with this contest. People said it couldn't be done - I said, watch me. It was open to approximately 460,000 BC Residents 19-25 yrs old and all they had to do was submit a video saying: 1. Who they are 2. What lights them up 3. What would winning a head start in life mean to them The prizes were: Condo for a year Car for a year Business Coaching Mentor Fitness Trainer Wardrobe and so much more I even got Vincenzo Guzzo, TV Star of Dragons' Den to be on the judges panel! Head Start is continuing its mission to provide opportunity and possibility to our young people all across Canada by way of mentorship opportunities. I'm just getting started in this non-profit initiative to help equip our young people with possibilities!

What is your secret to staying motivated?

I'm known as the unmotivated motivational speaker! In fact my new book that I'm writing is called, The Motivation Myth ~ Motivation's just like a Unicorn, hard to find and really hard to keep. I believe that we need to replace that mythical beast called motivation with the trusty mule called discipline and fierce commitment. See, motivation is enthusiasm for doing something, and let's be honest here, who's excited 100% of the time. Heck, who's excited even 50% of the time? So, we must have something else that will take the place of this thing that we call motivation, otherwise it becomes an excuse, "I'm not motivated, therefor I can't..." So, I replace motivation for fierce commitment to myself and my results and throw in a lot of discipline. That way, I get sh*t done!
