What has been one of the largest professional obstacles you have had to overcome?

ONE? more like a list of things. Obstacles are always there. Being a developer the obstacles are often about something new I have to learn to implement on the client's project, not just something I may not know at all, but sometimes are things that I know but still haven't gone through it much to be well confident to make it happen. Working on these projects makes me go out of my comfort zone to search for what has to be done and find a way of doing it. Sometimes you accomplish it but you know you can do better and googling things are always on the way to self-improvement.

What inspires you?

Becoming who I already am. That may sound confusing but think about it with me for a while - I already am what I wish to be, but being who you are isn't always easy, you have to work hard to be you. Like, I'm someone that is incredible concerning programming, which doesn't mean this will come easy, I have to search, and practice, and learn a lot every single day to make it a habit and a lifestyle. This is what drives and inspires me. To fight every day to be the best version of me.

What is your secret to staying motivated?

I think the main thing is to do something you love. In the challenging programming world, you find yourself struggling to always be learning new things. The learning path never stops. I find myself (more at the beginning than nowadays) thinking this isn't for me, it's too difficult, I can't do it... but something inside me loves it; loves what I am pursuing and want to pursue it. I think the secret of staying motivated is to stick it for the long term. Never give up. Keep going. Meditate, cool off, blow off some steam and get back to it fresh and new to do what you must.

What is the biggest challenge you currently face in your career?

Self-discipline - being a remote worker often challenges us to be more well organized and to have a lot more commitment to our schedules. I have never been this organized nor pushed myself to make things happen the way being a freelancer has taught me to. This is something that I'm very proud to achieve.

What makes you feel the most empowered?

I would like to start quoting Karl Marx here. "Social progress can be measured by the social position of the female sex". Being a woman at a job that society views as a men's field is a lot of empowerment. Women struggle every day by bein in a field that is definitely just encouraging for men. I see myself as an influencer because not only women approach me to start or pursue this field but also men ask me for tips and inspire themselves in what I have been producing. In a very sexist society, we as a whole, men and women, should embrace our differences and equities to grow ourselves as a community.
