I would tell myself in college to not be afraid of informational interviews and reaching out to other people in the industries I was exploring. I didn't learn how important of a tool this was until I got my Masters and the advice and guidance you can get from others is invaluable. Don't be afraid to email or message anyone on LinkedIn for a phone call!
The road to success isn't always the easy one, a lot of the time it is very tough and paved with a lot of failures. I have noticed a lot of young people are always looking for instant gratification and to be promoted overnight. Unfortunately it takes a lot of work and putting your head down to get there and deserve the respect from others.
Being a good person. There is really no point of having a career and living with myself if I am not doing the right thing and sticking to my moral compass. There a lot of interesting people in every industry but just learning to stick to your gut and stay true to yourself.
To be one of the best and highly regarded retail real estate development/leasing professional on the West Coast. I would love to be highly regarded as an expert in my industry and predicting market trends before others. Also, to be a reliable female mentor to other women in the industry.
"Take whatever job you can get." Really not helpful right!? I can't begin to explain how many people have told me this throughout my career and it just is not true. It is worth it to wait it out and find the right fit for you instead of jumping at something just because it is in front of you and easy. Often times you won't be happy and wanting to look for the right opportunity anyways.
