I definitely believe that people have a hard time understanding that I can be feminine and strong, smart and humble, successful and a student all at the same time. I wish that people would break the stigma on what a Pakistani American woman is capable of or what she should be doing. I feel that it’s hard for a lot of people that come across my life to understand that there doesn’t have to necessarily be a game plan or a strict timeline for everything.
At the age of 23, I was given the task of being the supervisor of operations in the oil field and with that came the management of people, equipment, processes. I had to understand that the people who were working under me had more experience and years attached to themselves then I have had of just being alive, and that is when I learned how to be confident in my worth but also show them that I am here to learn from them.
I’m extremely passionate about advocating success and independence for women. I love being able to inspire and help young girls see their potential and see that they’re more than just what society needs them to be.
I’m proud to be smart, independent, and ambitious.
I want to be known for helping bring a change in the disparity amidst the women in stem. I would like to be remembered and known for always being an advocate of standing on your own, working hard, going after what you want, bringing about community, and thriving to be the best version of yourself.
