Almost eight years ago, at the age of 48, I left a paying position at a company to start my own consulting firm. It was the most terrifying step I had ever taken. Having had a paycheck since I was 15, I was beyond scared that I would end up a the proverbial "bag lady" on the street.
It's the detours NOT the destination.
I wrote my first book, The Lost Art of Connecting (March 2021, McGraw-Hill)
Texting, calling or emailing 3-5 people every day just send some love or inquire how they are doing. Walking, especially during the pandemic. It has not only kept me fit, but it has kept me connected with my local community in Brooklyn, meet new people I normally would not encounter, and get moments away from the constant zooms and online meetings. Showcasing others literally every day on my social media platforms.
I would very much like to serve on a private or corporate board. Having served on multiple nonprofit boards, worked in corporate America for 25+ years and run a profitable company for 8 years, I am confident that I am ready.
