What is a career goal of yours?

My career goal is to open a multipurpose space for black entrepreneurs that would include an inclusive space to work, chill, educate and collaborate. The space would include a studio, coffee shop and event space where the community can host events that educate us, entertain us and grow us. I have the hopes that this could grow into a urban community centre. Besides that, I would also love to direct a movie.

What is a rule you try to live by?

Balance over everything. I went through phases of 'all or nothing' and they were never sustainable. What I've practiced for the last year is to create a balance in my life and career. I can have unproductive days and hustle days. I can eat healthy and indulge. I can spend time with my family and friends and spend time alone. Everything is good in moderation - just have to find the balance that works for you.

What is the biggest challenge you currently face in your career?

My current biggest challenge is battling imposter syndrome - this feeling that I'm not good enough or skilled in my field. It usually comes in waves or when something is going wrong. I've learned to deal with the emotion while it's happening and then think more into what is causing me to feel this way. There's usually a logical reason behind the feeling that can be solved and this helps me realize that it's not who I am at the core that is the problem, but something I'm doing which can always be changed.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

That I'm uncomfortable in front of the camera. Pretty ironic for a photographer but that's how I started my journey. Despite my insecurities, I forced myself to create content and speak confidently on things I was passionate about. That's how I started my YouTube and how I help entrepreneurs today feel more comfortable in front of a camera.

What is your favorite quote and why?

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us." -Marianne Williamson This has been a quote that stuck with me since watching Coach Carter for the first time. I really believe that being the best we could be is frightening, at least it is for me. But this quote helps me to understand that being the best I can be is my gift to this world and I'm doing the world a disservice by playing small. I've already experienced times I've motivated others by just being myself. So it's my purpose to inspire others - it's everyone's purpose.
